He is sitting on his throne, now with two beautiful women kneeling on the podium beside him. [21:20] The random prefect, after swearing fealty to the Realm, the Throne, and the Regent, rises and passes you buy as they leave the room [21:21] * Vanal puts on his game face, keeping it as neutral as possible, and steeling it against at outward expressions of revulsion at this perverted thing of a man [21:21] * Tabius nods to the Prefect as he goes by. [21:21] * Cicada nods to the passing Prefect, then turns towards the throne. [21:22] * Jynaru , remembering what keeps happening at these functions to him, decides to just stay shut up. He tugs at the expensive red linen that makes up his clothing; for some reason, he has been mimicing the empress' styles of late. [21:49] * *Regent* smiles and catches Cicada's hand as she turns to leave, looking deep into her eyes. [21:49] * Cicada turns a little surprised. [21:49] "Your excellency..?" [21:49] * Jynaru makes with the scanning of the onlookers. [21:50] <*Regent*> "Please, be careful... you know why it is important that you remain safe." [21:50] * Vanal 's face stays neutral...but if he was cringing...this would be one [21:50] * Cicada makes the same bdazzling smile as before. "Indeed, your excellency. I shall haste to meet the obligfations I have." [21:50] The onlookers are watching, seemingly impassive by the display. [21:51] * *Regent* smiles and kisses Cicada's hand, then lets her go, leaning back into his chair to watch you all leave. [21:51] * Vanal walks out of the throne room...and almsot collapses against a pillar as soon as the doors close [21:52] * Jynaru turns on a heel and walks out with the rest. [21:52] * Tala bows and exits the throneroom with the others [21:52] * Cicada leaves the room tall and proud, and with the smile still on her face. [21:52] "Thank Mela...those little meetigns are getting harder and harder by the day." [21:53] * Tabius walks up to Vanal and hits him on the shoulder, hard. Then looks into his eyes and then over at a guard. [21:55] * Cicada takes sanyet's arm and makes to leave the Imperial manse quickly. "Now, how about we begin making the haste 'we' so eagerly promised?" [21:55] "Mind if I take over the personal guard anybody? [21:56] "What am I going to do with more troops ? I've got plenty as is." [21:56] "Take 'em." [21:56] * Jynaru shrugs. "Go ahead. Mind you, they're green, but they were privately trained. Maybe you can get some unorthodoxy going." [21:56] * Cicada waves Tabius over to her side where she can whisper to him. [21:57] The six guards stand at attention, ensuring that the onlookers do not draw too near. For the most part, however, the residents of the imperial manse seem to be aloof, though you feel as if they are watching you whenever you turn your back. [21:57] * Tabius moves over to Cicada eyeing the troops. [21:57] "Those troops are here to make sure I do not run away, and maybe to 'record the accounts of accidents' which might happen to my loved ones. Be careful." [21:58] "At least one or two of them will be very well trained, maybe even blooded, assassins." [21:58] * Vanal looks at the guards "So...where did you people train ?" [21:58] "Interesting" [21:58] "Yes. Very." [21:59] * Cicada makes no more pause and hurries out, almost dragging Sanyet beside her. [22:00] "Sir, we have trained in the Empress' service since we are born. The Imperial Manse itself has many such opportunities for training, both in court and on the field of battle." [22:03] "Preference means everything in terms of skill." [22:04] * Jynaru shrugs. "Perhaps later you can show us a non-lethal demonstration of your skills and allow us to choose then." [22:30] Most of your stuff has been packed up. Large boxes lay around the floor, and you realize just how much stuff it is you have bought over your time here in the Imperial City. The Prefect and his wife are sitting at a large, round table with a umbrella hanging over it to block out the light. All the questions an inquisitive and straight forward girl would ask. [23:00] Jacob and Mary are politely quiet until Cicada sits nearby and talks to them, the ettiquite training they've apparently recieved quickly leeching away, to the amusement of Tatatashwan and Malena. [23:09] "The Orichalcum mine was sealed up by the immaculates, not long after the battle against the spirits, and the quarry was mostly destroyed so we had to close it. [23:37] suddenly, there's a horrible scraping sound, as if the ship has went ashore... but there is no shock of impact. [23:38] "I HATE BOATS ! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON ?!" [23:38] * Jynaru blinks. "That... can't be good." [23:38] * Tala stands on deck, just watching the shore pass by, unphased by the cold [23:38] "Stop the paddlewheel!" comes another shout in the fog, and slowly you can hear the splashing of the wheel slow down and stop. [23:39] * Tabius gets up and goes to take a look at whatever the heck is going on above decks. [23:39] It's so foggy you can't see anything, not even the massive pine trees on the shore... but now that the ship has stopped, you can feel a slight breeze from the west (the direction you're headed in) [23:41] Shouts from this ship to the other, to tell them to slow down. They try to use the signal lights, but it's just too dim, and so yelling into the fog takes over.. the other ships can't be seen, but you can hear the other crews yelling back. [23:41] * Tabius goes over to take a depth reading over the sides. [23:41] * Jynaru reminds himself to NEVER TRAVEL AGAIN when this is done. [23:47] * Tala 's skin becomes a deeper shade of blue, and glistens like it is wet before she even gets into the water. [23:52] You can see a little light, and then a small raft floats by, some man in a large cloak with a hood lantern and ringing a bell. [23:52] He looks passively at the ship as he floats by, still ringing the bell. [23:53] * Jynaru wanders over and waves. "Tala? Mind breaking the mast so we can get on with this?" [23:54] Suddenly there is a huge splash! [23:54] Jynaru is soaked, and then a large wooden rod shoots out from under the boat. [23:54] "SWEET SEXTES !" [23:54] * Cicada looks in the direction of the splash. [23:55] it catches air for a moment or two, then lands back in the water some distance away. [23:55] the ringing of the raft fades into the distance as it passes you by... [23:56] until you can't tell what direction it's coming from... [23:56] barely audible ringing all around you.. [00:43] Jynaru's first volley is rather a shock to the bandits, but after a few frenzied yells they spot your ship! Another bucaneer’s head soon joins his companion as Vanal’s sword leaves its sheath and decapitates the bastard in one fell swoop. Time seems to freeze as a dozen pirate heads turn to look at the interloper and the ships screeches to a halt. [01:15] sure thing [01:15] * Vanal smiles at the surrounding pirates “You have no idea…who…you are…FUCKING WITH !” [01:15] /me charges some poor shlub, sliding between his legs as he cowers from the oncoming human wall that is Cathak Vanal, popping up behind him, and cleaving him in half straight down the middle with one mighty blow, stepping through the falling, bleeding halves and launching into a sudden whirlwind of seemingly random, chaotic, but utterly vicious blows, hacking half the contingent of the ship to pie [01:15] ces in the merest blink of an eye. “Now boys…this is where you run away.” [01:15] "We're not pirates!" [01:15] "We're bandits!" [01:16] they jump in the water. [01:17] the rest of the bandits give up on the ship and swim back to shore...... [01:17] and eye you uneasily. [01:18] long moments pass... [01:19] * Tabius goes back over to pick up Vanal. [01:19] there are several hundred bandits on either side of the river. [01:19] * Tabius wish's he had CoOB. [01:20] * Vanal looks at the bandits [01:20] * Jynaru balances on a pair of bandits treading water desperately, looking uneasily at the wicked claws on his feet which are perilously close to their necks. He glares at the assembled bandits. "WHOSE BLOODY IDEA WAS THIS?!" [01:20] <*Bandits*> look at Vanal [01:20] * Vanal grips his blade and shield tightly [01:20] the bandits remain mysteriously quiet, as the sweet wind blows through the trees. [01:20] * Vanal feels very self-concious [01:21] * Tabius starts looking around for an unobserved observer. [01:21] "What ? Got a problem ?!" [01:21] "Get whoever it was out here NOW before I lose my temper!" [01:21] slowly, on the far side of the river, the bandits begin to move away from each other.... leaving a single trail between them. [01:22] Four women and a man walk through this trail, large packages strapped to their backs, disguising whatever is hidden within. [01:22] * Cicada sits on the side of the merchant ship, whistling to herself and cleaning her nails with a arrown and nion-chalantly blowing the last arrow out of the air and into the water with a 'hissss' with a mere exhale. [01:22] * Tabius flys back to the merchant to pick up Cicada. [01:23] they stop at the edge of the river, looking out at Vanal and the others silently... [01:23] "Hello. What kept you?" [01:23] * Tabius oh some Trimeres with nasty looking ramming points and I thought Vanal wanted a pick up." [01:23] "Who the hell organized this little party of yours ?" [01:24] they say nothing. They look like battle-hardened warriors to you, silent in the face of danger. [01:24] "I'll give you 5 seconds to respond. The last one TO respond get shot in the head with an arrow courtesy of my esteemed friend here !"
